Via his tough tackling approach in the middle of the park, seemingly endless sense of stamina when holding off opposing players, and uncanny ability to break up the play just when his teammates seem to need it most – Elneny could easily thrive down at the Emirates this season, offering Arsene Wenger that all-important defensive midfield outlet that has become somewhat of a rarity for Arsenal in recent seasons.
The burden placed on Francis Coquelin’s shoulders has been lifted considerably now that Mohamed Elneny has been successfully introduced within the fold at North London. The widely admired Frenchman no longer has to dominate the defensive midfield position largely on his own for Arsenal, as the club’s latest acquisition certainly represents a player worthy of matching Coquelin’s own individual performances for Wenger in the not too distant future.

Elneny therefore represents a player who could potentially operate as a creative midfielder should circumstance require such a move, even though the 23-year-old obviously goes down as a deep-lying holding player first and foremost.
