According to Fanatik, Bayern Munich are interested in a move for Everton forward Henry Onyekuru, although the Toffees’ sporting director Marcel Brands has demanded €40 million from the German champions for his signature.
What’s the word, then?
Well, having signed Onyekuru from KAS Eupen back in 2017 for a fee of just £7m, Everton have a chance to make a huge profit on a player who has never even made it onto the pitch for the Merseysiders.
The Nigerian was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht in 2017, and has spent the entirety of the current campaign out on loan with Galatasaray, where he has performed well with 12 goals in 22 league starts for the Turkish giants.
In this era of ‘big 6’ dominance, has finishing 7th become as good as winning a trophy? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…
Onyekuru has been unable to play for the Toffees as a result of ongoing work permit difficulties, although that wouldn’t be a problem if he made the move to the Bundesliga, where such laws are more relaxed.
Onyekuru’s sale could help land Andre Gomes
Everton managed to land Portuguese international Andre Gomes on loan from Barcelona back in the summer, a player of real pedigree and one who has enjoyed a fantastic season so far at Goodison Park.
However, their chances of landing the 25-year-old on a permanent deal have been dealt a blow with the news that Barcelona are hoping to receive around €40m for his signature.
That sum does, however, equate roughly to the fee that Brands has asked of Bayern for Onyekuru’s signature, which could hand him and Marco Silva a lifeline in their hunt for Gomes.
If Bayern do decide to spend big on the Nigerian striker, then Everton will be in the driving seat to secure the former Valencia man’s services on a permanent basis – it could be a masterstroke from the Toffees, who could be set to make a huge profit on a player who has never kicked a ball for the club.
