According to The Daily Star, Tottenham have Southampton’s Danny Ings on their radar as they contemplate signing a new striker.
What’s the word?
The north London side were rocked by the news that star man Harry Kane will be out until April with an injury, whilst they don’t have a senior centre-forward within their squad to fill those shoes.

It’s been no surprise therefore to see the Lilywhites linked with a number of strikers in recent days, including suggestions that they are in talks with Milan over swooping for Krzysztof Piatek. And now, The Daily Star claim that along with making approaches for the Pole and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, the club have Ings “on their radar”.
Premier League ready
With 94 total appearances in the Premier League in his time with the likes of Burnley, Liverpool and Southampton, Ings represents a more sure-fire option for Spurs as they hunt for a new striker. Despite it only being just past the half-way point of the campaign, the 27-year-old has already bettered his goal tally from any other year in the top-flight, with 13 to his name in just 21 games.
As per Sofascore, he is averaging a goal every 111 minutes in the Premier League this season, compared to Kane’s 162 minutes. Understat meanwhile shows that all of Ings’ strikes have come from inside the box – a trait similar to Spurs’ talisman, who has found the back of the net just once from outside the area. Both do their best work in a limited amount of space, and with sometimes relatively little to feed off, with the duo scoring more goals than they have been expected too.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
The fact Ings has a better goal-scoring ratio than Kane this season speaks volumes of the kind of form he is in at the moment. He would represent more than just a stop-gap until the Spurs striker returns, and provide them with genuine competition up front. Daniel Levy simply has to sanction a swoop for someone who has proven he can deliver week-in and week-out in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Tottenham fans want this proven striker to be signed following Harry Kane’s injury blow.
