da roleta: As reported by The Daily Mail, Rangers are interested in signing Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings during this month’s transfer window.
What’s the story?
da luck: Having already offloaded Mexican flop Carlos Pena and signed Brighton winger Jamie Murphy, it’s clear Graeme Murty and Rangers are intent on performing major surgery on the Rangers squad in January.
The Daily Mail report they’re intent to improve their striking options too, with a move for Nottingham Forest forward Jason Cummings.
The paper say the Ibrox club have room to manoeuvre after freeing up Carlos Pena’s £20,000-a-week wages and that a fee of £1m would be enough to bring him back to Scottish football.
However, Cummings is eager to make a success of his Forest career after Mark Warburton was sacked and Aitor Karanka was brought in to help guide them to English Premier League, according to the report.
Is a move viable?
Rangers will find it difficult to convince Cummings to abandon his efforts to make a name for himself in English football. It’s less than a year since he quit Hibernian for Forest and although the move hasn’t worked out quite as perfectly as he’d like, Forest’s prospects are looking up now Karanka is in place.
The Spaniard has a track record of bringing a sleeping giant back to the big time after his work at Middlesbrough and the prospect of English Premier League football is sure to be attractive to an ambitious player like the Scotland striker.
His career at the City Ground is far from over and after scoring a barrel load of goals for Hibernian, a return to Scottish football would only make sense should he flop completely, despite the pull of the Ibrox side.
