da gbg bet: Arsenal are planning to make a £53m swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, according to Don Balon.
What’s the word?
da roleta: Given that the Gunners are in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot for the second season running, the club are likely to be making changes to the playing squad.
Don Balon suggests that Modric is on their list of midfield targets and the North London outfit may have to splash out £53m to seal his signature.
The Spanish publication claims that the midfielder, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, is open to leaving the Bernabeu and join a club where he can wind down before hanging up his boots.
Arsenal are in need of a new midfielder to help balance out the squad and show some consistency, given that the likes of Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka can be hit and miss.
Is Modric a good option?
The Croatian is on top of his game when it comes to passing and there is no doubt that he would boost Arsenal’s midfield.

However, if reports are true in the sense that the 32-year-old is looking for an easy ride, he is unlikely to get that at the Emirates.
If Arsenal fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League and the uncertainty over Arsene Wenger’s position as manager continues, then the experience will be anything but a walk in the park.
There is also the issue of club rivalries given that Modric spent four years of his career playing for the Gunners’ arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Nevertheless, the midfielder would be a great signing, but only if he is ready to embrace the pressure.
