da fazobetai: Sky Sports News reporter Rob Dorsett has been speaking about what Aston Villa could do on deadline day.
What did he say?
da betobet: Villa are in the market for a striker, even after the signing of Mbwana Samatta from Genk was completed earlier in the window.
The need for another frontman comes with Jonathan Kodjia having departed and Wesley’s season declared as being over, following an injury sustained against Burnley.
Dean Smith is said to be quietly confident of completing a deal, but Dorsett has suggested that things won’t be easy for the club:
“Islam Slimani is definitely of interest. Villa pulled back when they learned of Manchester United’s interest, but they’ve been rejuvenated by news of Slimani’s request to end his loan deal with Monaco and return to the Premier League. It’s not a straightforward deal, with both Leicester and Monaco needing to be satisfied.
“Villa have been monitoring the situation with Krzysztof Piatek, but it looks like they’ll miss out on his signature. Daniel Sturridge has also been linked, but his injury record could dissuade Villa from making a move because they need a player who can go straight into the first-team squad. There are a lot of names still in the frame.”

Even with Samatta having joined the club and Keinan Davis back from injury, Villa could still use another recruit at the top of the pitch due to the aforementioned absentees’ situations.
Slimani has 14 goal contributions in the league this campaign, while Piatek and Sturridge have four and eight respectively.
Being able to add their prolificacy to the attacking players they have would be a massive bonus for the Villans as they fight to stay in the Premier League.

However, it seems as though things will be far from straight forward for the club from Villa Park, as each potential move has its own hurdle to overcome.
Despite the difficulties, Villa will be desperate to complete a move, with Smith’s confidence acting as an encouraging sign.
Meanwhile, Villa fans have been poking fun at Birmingham.
