da brwin: Chris Wilder has been linked with the vacant Celtic managerial post in recent days after it was revealed on Friday morning that he was set to be sacked by Sheffield United.
da mrbet: Wilder officially left the club on Saturday evening following the club’s announcement, but Sheffield United News provided an update earlier in the day on the 53-year-old’s potential Parkhead move.
Delay down to Celtic?
They claimed that United’s delay in announcing Wilder’s exit was actually due to interest from Celtic.
The Blades were scheduled to hold a news conference on Friday evening, which was eventually cancelled.
United were reportedly demanding that the Hoops pay a substantial compensation package to land Wilder as Neil Lennon’s long-term successor.
Transfer Tavern take
If the latest report is indeed true, then it seems as if Celtic could be closing in on Wilder’s services.
However, with his Bramall Lane departure now confirmed, we could well be hearing something emerging regarding Wilder’s possible move to Celtic in the coming days.
It remains to be seen how accurate Sheffield United News sources are on this one. Only time will tell.
